DEAFinitely Darts! – a record breaking event

SignHealth are the largest charity for the deaf in the UK.  SignHealth were keen to develop and execute an idea to raise awareness of their charitable cause.

The idea is stage a world record attempt for the most people playing Darts at the same time. Digivate were appointed to build and host a new website to support and promote the DEAFinitely Darts event.

On Thursday October 21st, thousands of enthusiasts around the UK will come together to create the record for the largest number of people playing darts at the same time.

Teams of players will register for the Deafinitely Darts event on a special website designed by Digivate for this exciting event.  Each team will seek to raise a minimum level of charity sponsorship.

Through a unique partnership between SignHealth, the healthcare charity for deaf people, and the Professional Darts Corporation [PDC]. This will follow the PDC Premier League final the night before.  Top players Phil ‘the Power’ Taylor, Simon Whitlock, James Wade and  Meryvn King will be at the launch lending their support to this record breaking project.

The PDC have agreed to adopt SignHealth as their official charity and will be providing promotional support for the event as well as a range of other fundraising opportunities. The PDC recognises that Darts is an inclusive sport that everyone can get involved with and that deafness presents no barrier to joining in.

The 15 venues that raise the most in sponsorship will receive a visit from one of the top professional darts players in the country to present prizes and stage an exhibition match.

The site has been designed by Digivate and has been deployed on the leading open source CMS platform, Joomla.

Digivate delivered a flexible solution incorporating content management and online payment processing through PayPal.  The site supports all aspects of promoting a logistically complex nationwide Darts event.
